Birthing at Home

Did you know you have a choice about where to give birth? Women with uncomplicated pregnancies can reduce the risk of having medical interventions and increase the chance of a normal birth by planning to give birth at home.

The recent Birthplace in England study has found that homebirth is as safe as hospital birth for babies of low risk women having a second or subsequent baby. There were also benefits for mothers who had significantly less interventions (such as episitomy, forceps/ventouse, emergency c-section) than low risk women planning to birth on a labour ward.
